The Gods laugh

Another great morning, this time with the kids from Huia Ranch School. These guys were asking some super smart questions - we were very impressed. We were also pleased they didn't crash our trike.

As for the cycling: found out this morning we had blown the side wall of the rear tire yesterday - first time that's ever happened with these tires but never mind, poo happens right? John and Rob take an early morning excursion around Waipukurau looking for tubes and surprisingly, end up buying them from the Warehouse. Great! Rear tire and tube replaced. The chaps get under way, then 3 kms later...bang! another side wall blown...what the? This time the right front side...weird. Replace tire and tube, get under way again, 2 kms later psssssssss - rear tube gone...bad language from front and back seats, then a helmet gets thrown.

Every time a tube or tire goes a lot of time gets lost as Rob has to get out of the trike before a repair can be made. This means calling up Karen in the support vehicle who is commonly 20 kms or more further down the road - very irritating.

So, only 20 kms traveled before a late lunch. After lunch another 20 kms spent climbing in the rain dampened the fella's spirits and they threw the towel in in Norsewood - home of the trolls, where they will start again in the morning.

You are making me breathless! What you are doing is awesome! I, who didn't know what a blog was until I was given a tip about your recumbent adventure, have been turned into a blog addict. The first thing I do in the morning (after having brewed my cup of coffee) is turning on my laptop, still in bed, and then tuning into your wavelength wherever you might be. Rather scary! What may have happened to you since yesterday??? You have got a strong support group close to the north pole. Friends and colleagues of me here in Norway are looking at you!! What about heading for Norway next time?

Hei Espen, welcome to the blog. Very appropriate your name should pop up tonight, as we have not long left Norsewood. Unfortunately we missed Stan today but will see him in the morning for coffee I hope. I will see you too within the month!

Maybe a cycle trip to Russia Espen. There's some talk going around the camp.

Sorry to hear wbout the drama with the wheels there guys, but hang in there as you're halfway through and once you get to Napier it's all down hill to Oamaru from the look of your map!

If you can survive a pit stop in a paddock and still remain friends then this is nothing more than inconvenient charachter building stuff that will cease talk of 'trips through Russia' because Wellington to Napier is a bitch of enough trip, and before you know it you'll be back in the arms of those that love you and supply muffins when requested!

How's the cold coming along Kaz?

Rolling rolling rolling, keep those wheels a rolling, sore hide!
